What I Wore: Denim on Denim and Statement Boots
This past weekend we hung out with some of our friends and visited The Velvet Cactus in Lakeview. The Velvet Cactus is a beautiful Lakeview restaurant that serves Mexican-inspired dishes in an eccentric, art-filled space. My first time visiting the restaurant was last weekend and the vibes were so good I had to go back. They have some of the best queso I’ve ever tasted, great drinks, and beautiful outdoor seating. They also have life-size games and self seating outside if you just want to make a quick to-go order. If you go anytime after 4pm there is usually a wait and they don’t take reservations, so be mindful of your arrival time.
I wanted to be cute and casual for our dinner date so I went with a denim on denim look and a statement shoe. I purchased this blue denim shirtdress from H&M last week and it just may be my new favorite piece in my Spring/Summer wardrobe. I enjoy the extended length of the shirtdress which makes it perfect when I want to wear something really short. You know those times where you want to wear a mini dress or some corn chips but you don’t want your booty cheeks out? This shirtdress is perfect for that!
I kept the rest of the look simple to keep the focus on the statement shoes. I paired the shirtdress with denim cut-off shorts and a white button-down, that every woman NEEDS in their Spring/Summer Collection. Both denim cut-off shorts and white button-downs are easy to find at a great price point all year long.
And now for the star of the show!
I received these shoes as a gift from my aunt and they are the best shoes ever! I just love them so much! They make such a statement with the fringe detail that gives your body fluidity as you move. Best “gift that I randomly got” ever! LOL
(Disclaimer: Unfortunately the shoes are sold out everywhere but you can sign up here to receive an email alert when they’re back in stock.)
